Hello Fellow Songwriter!

Friday, December 2nd, 2011

It seems now days there are hundreds of songwriting websites all geared toward teaching you “how to write songs like the professionals”. In fact, since the gravy train of songwriting has ended and only a select few at the top ever get their songs heard (much less cut), there are a lot of professional songwriters who are now themselves in the business of teaching songwriting. There’s nothing wrong with these websites, the advice they give, or the people themselves – but it seemed something was lacking, or rather, nothing was lacking.

Good radio hit songs are around 3 minutes long – so why in the world are these songwriters blathering on like there’s no end to time? That’s where Daily Songwriting Tips is different. The short version (“singles version”) is this: “tips” means “tips”, not volumes of written word. 3 minutes tops is all you may spend reading our emails, but what you get out of them (much like a great song), is worth all the time in the world and may take some time to truly sink in and understand. If you’re ready to learn songwriting without reading an encyclopedia, go ahead and sign up now and get started!

Or, if you prefer, here’s the “album cut” version:

10 Questions Answered About Daily Songwriting Tips Before You Sign Up (or you can skip these questions and move straight to the sign up form)-

1.  Will Daily Songwriting Tips be sending an email to my inbox with songwriting tips every day?

It’s possible, but unlikely.  You should expect frequent emails meant to help you on your journey as a songwriter (“FREQUENT” Songwriting Tips or “JUSTABOUTEVERYDAY” Songwriting Tips or even “EVERONCEINAWHILE” Songwriting Tips sounds a lot worse than Daily Songwriting Tips – and that’s your first songwriting tip: like with choosing domain names, always use the word that sounds ‘better’ – even if it’s not as accurate.  Simple and plain spoken is usually the best way to convey your message (it’s always better than trying to get too complicated) and Daily Songwriting Tips will always be short, sweet, and to the point.  We’re not going to take up a lot of your time – time you could be writing and employing the tips to begin with.

2. Is Daily Songwriting Tips good for a beginner, or is it only for Pros?

Daily Songwriting Tips is for every writer.  Whether you’re thinking you want to try writing songs, write better songs, or just keep the creative juices flowing – Daily Songwriting Tips can help by sending you timely emails that remind, teach, share, and encourage you on your journey.

3. Where does Daily Songwriting Tips get their tips from?

Some will come from other sources – various blogs, magazines, artist, and songwriters – what others have said about the craft of writing and their experience with it (credit will always be given when possible).  Some will come from myself (I’ve written with Grammy winners, Dove award winners, numerous #1 songwriters, a Songwriter Hall of Fame member, and many new writers).  And some will come from other writers just like yourself – after all, we all have a tip or two that can help a fellow writer improve. (once signed up you will be provided a special email address in which to send your own songwriting tips)

4. Will Daily Songwriting Tips be selling something along with your tips and will I be spammed?

Occasionally Daily Songwriting Tips will provide offers along with our tips. These offers are meant to help you become a better songwriter, better player of an instrument, make better recordings, and maybe even sing a little better too.  When we send offers, we will not be sending offers for something that has nothing to do with songwriting and music (such as underwater basket weaving courses or some such nonsense).  You will not be spammed, your email will not be sold, distributed, rented, or given away – and you are free to opt-out at anytime.

5. Can Daily Songwriting Tips help me get my songs published or recorded by an artist?

Not at this time, but my partner and I are working on ways that we can help make this happen.  Any announcement will be made in the Daily Songwriting Tips emails.

6. Will Daily Songwriting Tips be having a songwriting contest?

In the future we may offer the opportunity to enter a contest and win cash prizes, recording equipment, or musical equipment.  Any announcement will be made in the Daily Songwriting Tips emails.

7.  Why is the Daily Songwriting Tips website so plain and ordinary?

Because Daily Songwriting Tips isn’t a website – or rather, Daily Songwriting Tips isn’t based around a website.  Our tips are delivered only through email and the only way to get the tips is to subscribe to the email list.

8.  Why only deliver Daily Songwriting Tips into the inbox?  Why not just post them on this website or the Daily Songwriting Tips Facebook?

Daily Songwriting Tips seeks to find and identify songwriters who are serious about their songwriting – whether just beginning or an old pro.  Frankly, email gives us better tracking tools and it isn’t so anonymous.  We can see our list, who’s on it, and who opens the emails.  As we continue to work behind the scenes on a new and exciting venture that will help more songwriters than all the other internet services combined, this information is more valuable to us than having random and anonymous people come to this website with no reason and no purpose in mind.

9. Who runs Daily Songwriting Tips and sends the emails?

My name is Paul King. I have worked with the music industry in Nashville for over 20 years.  As mentioned above I have written songs with Grammy winners, Dove award winners, #1 writers, a Songwriter Hall of Fame member, and many new writers.  I’ve been published by one of the world’s largest publishers, worked with record labels to find talent, owned the most successful website in Nashville finding new talent, and owned a PR firm helping new artist.
